TOUR DESCRIPTION

Story of Caldey

Story of Caldey

Nothing will quite prepare you for the sense of tranquility that you will find on this wonderful, spiritual island with its fabulous beaches, shady woodland and rolling fields. Crossing from Tenby in one of the Caldey boats will give you an opportunity to gently wind down to the leisurely pace of the island. My walk will start outside the shop on the village green and will tell the story of the island and it's communities from the 6th Century to the present day. Its saints and stones, perfumes and aromas, fudge and chocolate and island life will all feature. I will take you to look at some of the buildings including St Davids Church, The Post Office, the Abbey and the Old Priory. Please note we will not be going into the Abbey. The tour is a gentle walk but will involve steps, slopes, uneven surfaces, cobbles and country walking, also periods of standing and is largely out doors. Please dress appropriately for all weathers. The tour will run for approximately 2 hours.

This walk is an official guided tour.

This walk will take place one day a week as scheduled and please note will be weather permitting only. Sometimes the crossing to the island is impossible, so please check before hand to make sure that the tour will go ahead and that the boats and guide are able to cross. Where possible an alternative date/time during the week will be offered. Normal Caldey boat prices apply and must be paid on main land before departure.

Walk starts outside the shop on the village green.

Walks will take place on the days shown, but please be aware that sometimes walks have to be cancelled
