Holy Wells and Sacred Places in North Wales
This full day tour takes you into Wales to visit some of the most magnificent sacred places in North East Wales.
Starting at the Sacred Holy Well of St Winifred hear the legend of why this has been a place of pilgrimage since the seventh century – and the only shrine in Britiain that can show an unbroken history of pilgrimage to the present day. After taking the waters at St Winifred’s Well, travel to the smallest royal city in Wales, St Asaph. Here we learn about the battles that shaped a Nation and legends of Welsh princes in the tales of the river bank.
From st Asaph we journey deeper into the Vale of Clwyd for lunch and a visit to the church of St. Dyfnog at Llanrhaeadr where we can visit our second holy well and other share tales of its treasures.
A short way from here is the old town of Denbigh with its ancient castle high on the hill. Your guide will share many stories about characters of this old town. Then from vantage points around the town you can enjoy the spectacular views of the Vale of Clwyd and the magical Clwydian Hills.
Following your tour of both the castle and highlights of the old town of Denbigh, you’ll travel to our final sacred place; a marvel of the Vale of Clwyd, the gracious 'Pearl of the Vale' at St Margaret’s,.locally known as the Marble Church. Here you will hear a love story.....
