Golf Heritage & Touring

When golfers visit consider a visit to the British Isles, their attention is often drawn first towards Scotland or Ireland. Wales is often overlooked, but it offers some of the finest courses with excellent value for money and relative ease of access.

Add to this a guided tour to spectacular tourist sites and landscapes of Wales, and you have a vacation that will build memories that last a lifetime.

This tour combines golf courses in Wales designed by former Open Champion and renowned golf architect - James Braid, alongside visits to World Heritage Sites, National Parks and 'Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty'.

Sample Itinerary:

Day 1 - Travel into Wales. Overnight in North Wales.

Day 2 - Play Porthmadog Golf Club. The front 9 gives a gentle welcome to your week golfing in Wales, whilst the back 9 contains some of the most spectacular dunes holes in the country. Visit the beautiful village of Portmeirion, the brainchild of architect Sir Cliugh Williams-Ellis. Overnight in North Wales.

Day 3 - Play Aberdovey Golf Club. A classic seaside links experience, set in the Snowdonia National Park. Host to many British Championships, it is here that Wales' best known golfer, Ian Woosnam, developed his skills. Take a ride on one of the 'Great Little Trains of Wales' on the Ffestiniog Railway is set in Snowdonia National Park and is part of a World Heritage Site. Overnight in Mid Wales.

Day 4 - Play Llandrindod Wells Golf Club. Perched high above the town, the course enjoys interrupted views for miles. Although the course has no bunkers, it provides a significant test of golf. Visit the landscape of Elan valley, on a guided tour. Overnight in Mid Wales.

Day 5 - Play Tenby Golf Club. The oldest golf club in Wales, and set within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Enjoy a walking tour of Tenby, one of the prettiest coastal towns in Wales. Overnight in South West Wales.

Day 6 - Play Pennard Golf Club (pictured above). The 'Links in the Sky' is one of the most unusual golf courses you will ever visit. The landscape is dunes, humps and hollows, yet raised to an altitude of 200 feet, with outstanding views of Gower 'Area of Outstanding beauty'. Guided tour of Wales' waterfront city of Swansea. Overnight in South West Wales.

Day 7 - Play Monmouthshire Golf Club. Designed by Braid on land formerly used for horse racing, this tranquil course is set alongside the River Usk in the rural county of Monmouthshire. Visit the Wye Valley 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'. Overnight in South East Wales.
