Biography

Hi I’m a qualified Green Badge Guide for North Wales, lucky to be living on the beautiful island of Ynys Môn –  Anglesey. For the last few years I have been leading tours organised for the many cruise ships arriving at Holyhead port. Do get in touch with me about tours on coaches or your own transport on the island and in North Wales, I am only minutes away from the train and ferry terminal at Holyhead and from the railway station at Bangor, the historic university and cathedral city in Gwynedd on the mainland. I also lead walking tours of our local towns and villages and historic sites including our famous castles and archaeological sites such as Bryn Celli Du and Barclodiad y Gawres. In particular I’m a White Badge Guide for the historic port town of Holyhead (Caergybi).

This part of Wales is a stronghold of the Welsh language, and while not a native speaker, I am able to help you with pronunciation and translation of many of the signs and notices you will see all around us. As I am often pre-booked for cruise ship tours between April and September, I am more likely to be available outside these dates, but if I can’t help you I will try to find a colleague who can!

Interests

Castles

In my part of North Wales we have many famous castle sites including the four UNESCO World Heritage sites of Beaumaris, Caernarfon, Conwy and Harlech, part of Edward I's 'Ring of Iron' fortifications. I would be delighted to show you around.

History and Prehistory

Our towns and countryside are steeped in history, from prehistoric sites such as burial chambers and standing tones on Anglesey, through iron age settlements, Roman forts, mediaeval buildings and churches, historic country estates, major sites of the industrial revolution and mining plus wartime events such as the Napoleonic and twentieth century World Wars.

Best of Wales - general interest tours

I would be happy to lead a general tour around Anglesey/North Wales and build an itinerary for you based on your specific interests

Coastline

Living on Ynys Môn - the beautiful island of Anglesey, I can show you the best of our wonderful 125 miles of coastline from wide sandy beaches steeped in history to the dramatic cliffs of South Stack, and find those more out of the way. The coast of the North Wales mainland is also home to spectacular beaches and coastal sites of interest with coastal towns such as Caernarfon, Conwy and Llandudno and smaller less well-known towns in between

Countryside

Food and Drink

We are blessed to have some wonderful restaurants, pubs and cafes. We also have a number of food and drink producers who are very willing to show you 'behind the scenes' and I can devise a tour to help with this.
