As a Blue Badge Guide for all of Wales I can provide you or your group with entertaining information on all aspects of Welsh history and culture throughout the country.
However, if like me, you have a passion for gardens, churches and prehistory, then I would be delighted to give you a more in-depth tour where we can really delve into what makes Wales a special place to visit for these topics.
I live in south-east Wales, ideally placed for tours coming across the border from Bristol or London and perhaps touring around Wales. Begin with Cardiff, our vibrant capital city and then head out in any direction for fantastic scenery plus a little bit of Welsh magic.
I would be delighted to support you in planning an itinerary for your visit to Wales and accompanying you when you arrive. I look forward to sharing a wonderful experience with you.
Best of Wales - general interest tours
This is for you if you’re not really sure what you want to do - but just want to experience Wales and understand what makes it special and unique.
Castles
Wales is the land of castles and there are castles to suit every type of traveller. However, do please bear in mind that almost all of them involve steps (lots of them!) and they are often part of a spiral staircase. Some castles have accessibility options so do get in touch if you are thinking of making castles a priority on your tour.
Churches Chapels and Cathedrals
I absolutely love visiting churches! They tell us so much about our social and cultural history, regardless of whether or not you have a faith. From grand cathedrals to tiny mountain chapels, Wales has something for everyone. However, some are only accessible for smaller vehicles so your choice might depend on the size of your group.
Coastline
Being born on the coast, the sea holds a special place in my heart and is the place where I am happiest. I love walking on the coast and particularly soaking up the weather and nature which is so special on any part of the coast. If you would like to join me for a short coastal walk, please get in touch to discuss your requirements.
Gardens and Stately Homes
Whenever I am in a new place I always enjoy visiting local gardens. They are so different, dependent on the soil, climate and history of the area - plus of course the individual choices of each gardener. I have led many specialist garden tours in Cumbria (where I also hold a Blue Badge qualification) and Wales.
History and Prehistory
I am particularly interested in prehistory - stone circles, burial chambers etc. I love thinking about our ancestors - why they built things and how they may have lived. Once we move into the period of recorded history there is so much information it’s more a question of judging what to speak about and what to leave out. Every group is different and therefore so is every tour.
Nature and Wildlife
As someone who spends a lot of time outside, it’s hard not to be inspired by nature and wildlife. I’m not in any way an expert but, as a member of various wildlife organisations, I’m learning! It’s an ongoing process which we never get to the end of - the journey is the destination.
