Shwmae, I’m Ewan Rees and I’d love to be your local guide when you visit West Wales.
I was raised in a small village called Eglwyswrw in North Pembrokeshire and I’m a native Welsh speaker.
My wife and I started our own walking holiday business VIP Wales running guided walks & local tours, as we have a love for the area and want to share this with visitors.
We have our own Private Hire 8 seat passenger vehicle, so we can provide Driver Guide tours and transport for small groups.
I was previously a Ranger for the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, so I have a real passion for the area and I’d love to share this with you. I now work full time for my business and enjoy every minute of it, come rain or shine.
I’m an accredited ‘Green Badge’ tourist guide for South West Wales, which is recognised by Visit Wales. The qualification allows me to provide walking tours, private hire vehicle tours, coach tours, cruise excursions & press trips throughout the counties of Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Swansea.
I’m also a qualified Mountain Training Lowland Leader and I’m part of the local HM Coastguard team, so I have a real love for the outdoors and providing walking tours on the coastal paths and hills. Living very close to the Preseli Mountains, the home of the Stonehenge “Bluestone”, I’m regularly on these hills providing a variety of different theories behind the mystery on these special stones and their potential origin.
All my tours and walks are flexible and I’m happy to tailor make experiences based on your requirements. Please contact me if you have any questions and I’ll be happy to accommodate you.
Coastline
One of my main passions as a guide, it to lead people along the famous Pembrokeshire Coast National Trail. I offer full day and half day guided walks, along some of the most spectacular coastline here in Wales.
Distances vary from 3 miles up to 15 miles per day, depending on your ability and time.
I'm more than happy to offer to individuals, couples and small groups.
I can offer multi day guided walks along the path, where we can walk the entire 186 miles! Or if that's too much, I can reduce the days and distance to accommodate your dates.
Castles
Wales is well known for its formidable castles and one of my favourites to visit is Pembroke Castle. I guide here regularly in the season and visitors always love the stories/tales, impressive walls, towers, halls, caverns and history here.
Churches Chapels and Cathedrals
Being based in Pembrokeshire, we are very fortunate to have some beautiful churches to visit and my local church is St Brynachs in Nevern. The 13th Century church is still a very active church and you will see why when I guide you there! It’s a special place and the Bleeding Yew tree, Celtic Cross, church bells and Ogham writing are just a few magical things about this church.
No trip to West Wales is complete without a visit to St Davids Cathedral. A truly magical site and I’m so lucky that I’m able to guide here.
Countryside
As a child my playground was exploring the Preseli Hills and its magical sites. The Preseli Hills are home to the magical Bluestones that made their way to Stonehenge some 150 miles away in Wiltshire, dating back over 5,000 years ago. If you would like to visit these sites, discuss theories, touch spotted dolerites, visit Carn Meini/Menyn and walk the ancient tracks, then I’d be delighted to guide you. Other sites of interest we can visit are, Foel Drygarn Hill Fort, Carn Alw, Carn Goedog and sites less know in Brynberian. This would all be topped off with a trip to Pentre Ifan Dolman.
