Royal Anglesey

Royal Anglesey

We all know of William and Kate’s connection and love for Anglesey, but the Island’s strong connections with royaly stretch back to the 7th century. On this tour you’ll not only see spectacular scenery as we dodge through the centuries learning about the loves, wars and everyday life of royal houses of both Wales and England.

Throughout history royal brides have been integral in both uniting and dividing nations. We'll visit Beaumaris and see the elaborately carved sarcophagus of Siwan, the illegitimate daughter of “Bad” King John and hear of her stormy marriage to Llewellyn the Great.

You’ll learn about beautiful Catherine of Valois, daughter of the King of France married to Henry V – victor of Agincourt, widowed by 20 and secrety remarried to a man of Anglesey stock. It was this marriage that led to the famous Tudor dynasty.

And it’s not all secret marriages and adulterous relationships we’ll learn of the battles between the royal house of Gwynedd and their Norman neighbours. Your guide will paint a picture of life in a Welsh medieval palace as we walk amongst the ruins learning how both rulers and servants ate and slept

And of course we’ll see the places connected to Mr and Mrs. Windsor during their time on Anglesey
