Join me on this moderately easy walk to explore Cemaes Bay - once the site of a medieval Royal Court. It is the most northerly village in Wales. See the traditional cottages, Samson's Rock, the unique harbour and the 'Time and Tide" Bell. Hear tales of smugglers and shipwrecks. Stroll along the picturesque lane to the site of Llanbadrig. It was here off this eastern headland, where it is said, that St. Patrick was shipwrecked in AD440. We will visit the site where St. Patrick founded the ancient church. Today, a more recent, mainly 14th Century church, stands on the site - if it is open, we will go inside, to discover its interesting treasures. Then I will guide you across the headland to the viewing point of St.Patrick's Cave and Well.

This area is designated AONB and SSSI. We will feel the 600 million years old rocks beneath our feet as we savour this breathtaking, atmospheric location on the edge of the Irish Sea. Retracing our steps, we return to the village by following part of the old tramway running alongside the tranquil River Wygyr. This peaceful, hidden valley, provides a rich habitat for many native plants and birds.

Suitable footwear and "weather appropriate" clothing required. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.

The tour is approximately 2.5 miles in distance. The Starting Point is from the main car park just parallel to the High Street.
