Biografia

I am a genealogist, based on Anglesey (known as Ynys Mon in Welsh) and a qualified green badge (north Wales) tourist guide.

Anglesey has several thousand years of known history – from ancient burial chambers, churches, stately homes to harbours.

I live in Amlwch Port, near the harbour, which is connected to copper trade at Parys Mountain, in the 18th century. The harbour was enlarged, after an act of parliament, to help with the export of the copper. Today, you can see some of the industrial history along the harbour, which includes two mills, the ruins of a pub and evidence of shipbuilding. The harbour has been used in filming as well (including ‘SAS who dares win, 2025′ and a Lloyds bank advert. There are several historical buildings that still exist along the harbour, including the old watchtower (where the GeoMon museum is located), a two seater toilet and buildings associated with the copper mining and ship building. The harbour walls have a Cornish influence.

I launched my walking tour along Amlwch Harbour, in July 2025.  During the tour, I will give you an insight into Amlwch harbour’s interesting history from ghosts, pubs, links to the copper trade to shipbuilding.  In July 2025, we saw the return of the Viking festival to Amlwch and hope to see it again in the near future. For my Amlwch harbour walking tour, please visit my Eventbrite page (link under the website icon).

For the last few years, I have worked with the cruise ships coming into Holyhead, taking some of the official tours. The official tours that I have taken have included scenic tours of Ynys Mon (Anglesey) and Eryri (Snowdonia), visits to castles (Beaumaris, Conwy and Caernarfon) and a walking tour of Holyhead.

I am happy to do coach tours as well.

When I’m not researching clients’ family histories and/or on tours, I volunteer for two organisations. I am a remote volunteer for the Imperial War Museum (war memorial register) and  a volunteer for the Commonwealth War Grave Commission (eyes on, hands on project, looking after graves over 7 cemeteries, as well as one of their guides and speakers).

I enjoy visiting churches, cemeteries and war memorials across Anglesey, Gwynedd and further afield.

I am currently studying Level 1 BSL (British Sign Language).

Interessi

Chiese Cappelle e Cattedrali

Ho una buona conoscenza delle chiese di Anglesey e una crescente conoscenza di chiese, cappelle e cattedrali di Gwynedd e Conwy.

Burial grounds can be interesting locations to visit, as they provide an insight into the local community. The inscriptions reflect the occupations, the wealth of the local community and how certain historical events affected the local population.

Storia della famiglia e tour degli antenati

I am a genealogist, specialising in North Wales (especially for Anglesey and Gwynedd). I have been working on my family history (as well as offering a professional service for clients) and have ancestral connections to Anglesey, as well as other parts of the UK.

Come and explore beautiful Wales with me. There is a wide range of places to explore and learn about from Parys Mountain, near Amlwch, which was once the biggest exporter of copper in the world to castles and churches. We even have beaches and coves that have a lot of history. We can even visit local food and drink producers.

Castelli

Come visit and explore some of King Edward I's castles with me. I am happy to guide you around Beaumaris, Caernarvon and/or Conwy Castle.

Beaumaris castle is on Anglesey and was never finished, as the money for building ran out. In Caernarvon and Conwy you can see the town walls, as well as the castle. All three were designed with the help of Master Builder James of Saint George.

Costa

Come visit some of the coastline with me, learning about some of the history, beautiful views and some film locations. One of my favourite locations to visit is the harbour in Amlwch Port, on Anglesey, which has a strong connection with the export of copper.

La religione

In North Wales, you will find a rich history of Christianity. On Anglesey we have many religious sites that date back centuries and just across the Menai Strait we have Bangor Cathedral which has 1500 years of history. It is hard to travel across Anglesey without passing at least one chapel and/or church!

The ancient Druids last stand was on Anglesey in the first century, against the Romans. Today, we have modern druids, including the Anglesey Druid Order.

Rame, carbone e ferro

Did you know that Parys Mountain, known as Mynydd Parys in Welsh, is near Amlwch and was the largest copper mine in the world? The copper ore was exported from the harbour in Amlwch Port.

I have walking tours along Amlwch harbour, talking about how the copper trade affected the harbour and town.
