Biografie

Hello! I’m Adrian. I’m a historian, museum owner, author and now a white badge tour guide for the beautiful North Wales town of Llandudno!

With a vast wealth of knowledge and passion for local military and social history, I have given hundreds of talks and walks and written five books with the latest, ‘Quirky Llandudno’, published in July. Over the last few months I have been busy training to be a qualified guide for my hometown of Llandudno. I am looking forward to sharing this knowledge with you.

I am vice-chair of Llandudno and Colwyn Bay History Society, I volunteer for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and am Secretary of Llandudno Royal British Legion and the local Poppy Appeal Organiser. I have an ambition to visit the grave of every one of Llandudno’s fallen servicemen and so far have been to 306.

Guided Walks

Llandudno’s Military Heritage

Discover the amazing military heritage of Llandudno during the First and Second World Wars and how the popular holiday resort became a sanctuary for thousands of servicemen, civil servants, entertainers and scientists. Hear about the men and women who defended the town and local personalities who contributed to the war effort.

Victorian Llandudno

At the start of Queen Victoria’s reign in 1837, Llandudno was a tiny copper mining village with a population of a couple of hundred people. By the end of her reign, it had been developed into the resort we know and love today with all the entertainments and infrastructure a well-heeled Victorian visitor would expect. Take a guided walk around Llandudno and discover the history of the “Queen of the Welsh Watering Places”.

Retail Llandudno

Discover the stories of Llandudno’s retail ‘golden mile’ – the shops, the characters and a donkey called Smiler! This gentle stroll along Mostyn Street looks at 175 years of retail history. See where the Queen of Romania bought her fish, where a Bohemian bigamist traded from and what connects Llandudno’s newest café with the tragic sinking of the RMS Titanic.

Illustrated Talks

For time pressed groups, I also offer a range of lavishly illustrated talks that I can give in the comfort of the hotel as an alternative to guided walks. Perfect pre or post evening meal.

I look forward to welcoming you to Llandudno.
