Hi, I am James, an Official White Badge Guide for the Walled Town of Conwy and a Gold Award Tourism Ambassador for Conwy. I absolutely love the town that is my home and revel in sharing its many delights with visitors and locals alike.
I set up Conwy Guided Tours to offer personable and high quality tours of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is always a privilege getting to meet such a wonderfully diverse range of people from all over the world and tailoring tours to suit their needs, interests and priorities. The most popular Tours currently include Conwy Castle, Conwy Town and The Conwy Ghost Tour but I deliver any combinations of these alongside completely bespoke experiences to provide the perfect experience for visitors.
With a degree in history and having taught the subject for many years I have always been fascinated by the many layers of history that are packed into the unique town of Conwy. But Conwy is not all about the past and there is so much more to share in a town that boasts an enviable reputation for food and drink, an excellent art gallery, a bustling quayside, engineering marvels and a range of locally sourced goods available from a wide range of independent shops, galleries and delicatessens.
With a background in education and a classroom style workshop space available I also have a wealth of experience in providing off-site learning for schools and youth groups.

Conwy Castle has been voted the prettiest in Wales and is an incredibly well preserved and hugely impressive structure. As a guide share I help clients to interpret and see the significance of all of the key features and share stories of dramatic events that have unfolded here.
Eglwysi, Capeli ac Eglwysi Cadeiriol
St Mary's Church is a grade I listed building at the heart of Conwy. It is one of the most historic churches in Wales and parts of it date from the 1170's when Aberconwy Abbey was founded here by Cistercian monks. It went on to become central to Welsh learning and national identity with close ties to the Princes of Gwynedd.

Conwy sits on the banks of the tidal estuary of the River Conwy and continues to enjoy a vibrant relationship with the sea. Today its mussel industry is a famed as its pearls were in the past. The harbour is testament to the active fishing industry and coastal management has included world firsts in engineering.

Plas Mawr is the finest and best preserved Elizabethan townhouse in Britain and Aberconwy House is the oldest secular house in Wales. Along with the famed castle there are multiple historic properties to explore in Conwy.

We can explore highly significant buildings, people and events from the middle ages through the Tudor period and on to Victorian and modern times. Any number of themes can be drawn out from Welsh history and identity to conquest and colonialism, from social history to the monarchy, from engineering and architecture to industrialisation and migration.
