TOUR DESCRIPTION

Forget the great ports of Cardiff and Swansea because after the discovery of vast amounts of copper in Mynydd Parys in 1768, Amlwch became the most important port in Wales. Large quantities of ore were exported to Merseyside and South Wales for smelting. Meanwhile, large quantities of scrap iron was imported for the precipitation ponds on the mountain.

This tour will show you around this attractive port, and you will see the remains of the shipbuilding yards, find out the the history of the port and how Amlwch helped Nelson win the battle of Trafalgar.

Private tours can be arranged for groups of 8 or more - contact me to arrange a a day and time to suit.
