The Gower Coastal WalkTour ID: 102
A very popular walk, which takes us along the beautiful, rugged and dramatic Gower coastline.
Walking from Pitton Green we meet the coastline at Paviland, home of a cave within which the remains of a 32,000 year old "Red Lady" was discovered. ( A view of the cave only at low tide.). Continueing westwards, past Iron Age fortifications, always keeping the coastline with its magnificent seascapes to our left, we soon reach Mewslade and Fall Bay's, both distanced far enough from the main roads to keep them peaceful for sun lovers and bathers alike. Around a headland, we catch our first glimpse of the iconic Worm's Head. Isolated from the mainland twice a day at high tide, the island is only accessible via a rocky causeway. Finally, a Lifeguard station before we proceed towards one of the top ten beaches in the world, at Rhossilli and time for a well deserved "cuppa" .
This is a walk that never fails to raise the spirits, no description from myself does it justice. Suitable for all moderately fit walkers/Rambles, but be aware, several stiles need to be negotiated.Wet weather clothing and good walking shoes/boot are essential.
